We know that we are running out of time to stop our planet from becoming a very inhospitable place, and we know we have to succeed. We are up against the richest corporations in the history of money, so to win we’ll need to use our creativity as our currency.

Join us for Global Powershift, an international gathering of 500 young climate change organizers to be held from June 24-30 in Istanbul, Turkey.

One major focus of Global PowerShift will be on creative activism, including workshops and skillshares in puppetry, mass production for mass mobilizations, subvertising, street art and street theater, creative non-violent direct action, activist animation, reality correction, historical reclamation, chants and protest songs, and more. We plan to equip our generation with new creative tactics to gain maximum leverage using minumum resources. We’ll develop action plans that inspire wonder, evade the logic of violent/non-violent, and are capable of resisting (or hijacking) media manipulation. We need creative, impassioned and dedicated individuals to join us at this historic gathering, and to grow a globally connected network of creative organizers strong enough to reclaim our future from the fossil fuel industry. Travel, food and accommodation can be provided.

At Global PowerShift, the skills from the creative activism workshops will be applied immediately in a creative and inspiring public action that will be organized as part of the gathering. And Global PowerShift is just the beginning, it will be followed by regional PowerShifts around the globe where there will more opportunities to use creative tactics locally to further regional campaigns, actions and movement building. In addition, we will be constructing an Arts Camp for the duration of the gathering to integrate creativity into the functioning of daily life while providing some basic encampment skills to Global PowerShift participants.

Apply now to join us for Global PowerShift, deadline for applications is December 16th, 2012. CO2 levels and sea levels are on the rise – so are we.

Please take a minute to share this page with anyone you think might be interested. For this to be a success we need diversity in all aspects and will need to reach outside just the “climate” movement – this is, afterall, a struggle as big as our planet that involves many different movements. Please encourage anyone to apply who you think would contribute to and benefit from this crucial gathering. Apply now, we’ve got no time to lose.

If you are unable to join us in Istanbul and want to stay connected to this exciting project and engage locally, please contact art@350.org. We’d love to hear from you and build this movement.
